What God Has Done for My Soul

Psalm 66:16 (NKJV) — 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, And I will declare what He has done for my soul.

In my morning prayer time, devotional time, or whatever you want to call it, I’ve been praying through the Psalms chapter by chapter. What I mean is, in my quiet time with the Lord, I have been reading a chapter in the morning and using parts of, or the whole chapter to direct and inspire prayer and praise to Him.  This morning the verse above grabbed my heart and arrested it.

I love telling others about my God and Savior. There is so much to tell–His goodness and love that saved me, forgave me, and how He daily covers my life with an abundance of grace and mercy. That is just the beginning.  I want to draw your attention to a particular emphasis in this verse:  “… what He has done for my soul.”

Have you stopped and given deep thought as to what He has done for your soul? It is earth shattering and mind blowing. It is no small thing.  We may reach into our Christian bag of quotes and say, “He has washed away all my sins.”  Indeed, He has!!  But I challenge you to take even that thought and drill deeper in meditating on the significance of that truth. What does that mean? What are the some of the “here and now” ramifications of Christ washing ALL of my sins away? We should read some scriptures related to that subject and meditate on them, asking the Spirit of God to illuminate the riches and impact of that accomplishment of Christ in your life, and in the lives of others. Then take this same process and apply it to other things that He has done for your soul.

What has He done for my soul?  A list includes:  Peace; Joy; Purpose; Deliverance from being blind, thinking that I could see; A taste of heaven while living in this Shadowland.  This is just the beginning of what could be written and said in response to that question.  The question is to you: What has He done for YOUR soul?  Answer Him, and tell others so that they may hear your testimony of His graciousness and power.

As I begin to realize what He has done for my soul, “Lord, let me share the answer with others. Grant me open hearts to share these great things about You!”  Amen.
