Vs. 90 — Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides.

Charles Spurgeon:

Nature is governed by fixed laws; the globe keeps its course by the divine command, and displays no erratic movements: the seasons observe their predestined order, the sea obeys the rule of ebb and flow, and all things else are marshalled in their appointed order. There is an analogy between the word of God and the works of God, and specially in this, that they are both of them constant, fixed, and unchangeable. God’s word which established the world is the same as that which he has embodied in the Scriptures; by the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and specially by him who is emphatically THE WORD. When we see the world keeping its place and all its laws abiding the same, we have herein assurance that the Lord will be faithful to his covenant, and will not allow the faith of his people to be put to shame. If the earth abideth the spiritual creation will abide; if God’s word suffices to establish the world surely it is enough for the establishment of the individual believer. (Spurgeon, C. H. (2009). The treasury of David: Psalms 111-119 (Vol. 5, pp. 315–316). Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software.)

Prayer:

O’ God, my God, Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides. Faithfulness is who You are; Your Name is Faithful and True. From generation to generation there is not a moment of time where You have not kept Your covenant. You are the same today as You have always been. Each morning when I see the sun faithfully arise from the east, I am reminded of Your faithfulness. When I see the rainbow after a shower, I am reminded of how faithful You are. Faithful in Your love; Faithful in Your mercy; Faithful in Your kindness; Faithful in Your righteousness; Faithful in holiness; Faithful in Your grace; and Faithful in Your watchfulness over Your children. I do not have to worry or fret because I know of Your faithfulness. I will not fear judgment, because of Your faithfulness.  I will not fear man, because of your faithfulness. I will not doubt Your promises, Your presence with me, or Your long-suffering with me, because of Your enduring faithfulness. Indeed, Great is Your Faithfulness!
